Go Native!

Welcome to the Go Native Community Portal—where native plant enthusiasts meet and connect. Explore all the resources and register to join this growing community. Together, we can create a series of kipuka, or micro-forests, that connect urban and natural areas…and restore nature from mauka to makai!

Use the interactive map to identify your growing zone and search the database of 216 native Hawaiian and Polynesian-introduced “canoe” plants. This online version of the quick reference table from our Go Native book now includes additional landscaping, ethnobotanical, and ecological information.

Explore our forums to find answers to your most pressing questions about native and canoe plants. Registration is NOT required to view discussion groups, but we hope you’ll create an account to post your own questions and respond to those of others.

Register as a Native Plant Ambassador and gain access to a community of native plant enthusiasts who can help you with your garden or to whom you can offer your expertise and experience. Helping each other helps grow the movement.

Check out our Directory of Nurseries to find one near you that has the plants you need.
